Gore-Tex® Duratherm Kelvin

When it comes to keeping out the cold and keeping your feet snug, Northwave turns to Gore-Tex® Duratherm Kelvin. This lining makes use of hollow-core fibres to really lock in heat and keep out the bite of plunging temperatures. Low on bulk but high on warmth, it’s rated for comfort down to -15 degrees Celcius. The boots are also windproof and waterproof, keeping out the very worst of the winter weather.  

The Flagship boots also boast Northwave’s flexible Easyfit Climaflex collar. This makes use of a Gore-Tex Rattler® membrane, providing a reliable seal against water and mud ingress. Its flexibility also lets you pedal smoothly and efficiently without feeling restricted. 

Meanwhile, inside the shoes, the Arctic 4layer insole adds another layer of insulation from the cold – the four-layer aluminium and fleece construction works with the Gore-Tex membrane to deliver outstanding warmth even when you’re cycling in temperatures below freezing.

Bringing an unrivalled response to your pedal inputs, the Hyperlight XC Full Carbon Sole turbo-charges your winter XC mountain biking.  Rated 14 out of 15 on Northwave’s stiffness scale, this sole unit wastes little energy as you put the power down out of berms and as you attack technical climbs. The grip is kept minimal but functional, maintaining a low overall weight. For muddy cyclocross races and slippery trails, front studs can also be added for extra traction. 

XFrame® x Twin Dial SLW2 closure system

When it comes to long-ride comfort there’s little that matches the snug-fitting XFrame® upper. This innovative design holds the foot firmly in place but does so without creating pressure points.

Continuing the snug and comfortable theme, the SLW2 closure system allows you to dial in the fit just how you like it. With two micro-adjust dials, you have precise control of the fit and feel of your shoes with independent adjustment to the upper and lower. And at the end of your ride, a single button release makes it easy to kick off your shoes. Quick. Simple, Durable. Precise. 

Cleat Guidance

These MTB shoes are compatible with MTB pedal systems, which use cleats with SPD standard (2-bolt standard), e.g.: Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, CrankBrothers, CrankBrothers Race, Look MTB, Xtreme MTB, Wellgo MTB, Ritchey MTB.
