HRM-Run

Garmin’s Fenix 3 GPS Performance Bundle includes Garmin’s high-performance HRM-Run heart rate monitor which is specifically tailored to provide advanced running metrics straight to your watch face. The HRM-Run provides 6 different running dynamic metrics:

Cadence: Number of steps per minute.

Vertical Oscillation: Degree of bounce in your running motion. Displays the vertical motion of your torso, measured in centimetres for each step.

Ground Contact Time: Amount of time in each step that you spend on the ground while running. Measured in milliseconds.

Ground Contact Time Balance: Displays the left/right balance of your ground contact time while running (displays a percentage).

Stride Length: Length of your stride with 1 footfall to the next. Measured in metres.

Vertical Ratio: Ratio of vertical oscillation to stride length (displays a percentage). A lower number typically indicates better running form.

The Fenix 3 supports performance sports like running, cycling, swimming, trail running, indoor training, cross country skiing, triathlons, climbing and more. The watch measures your performance on the go and tracks your activities, whatever they are, for sharing and for navigating you back home at the end of your outdoor adventure.

Run Vertical

Not only designed with road runners in mind the watch comes with trail running specific features. You can automatically switch for core data presentation during flat running verses climbing sequences. Additional, climbing-relevant data includes ascent performance split for laps and vertical speed.  

Swimming

The watch is also adapted for use during swimming – both in and out of the pool. The Fenix 3 captures detailed swim metrics, including distance, pace, stroke count, stroke rate and SWOLF score. You can easily log swim drills and kick sets at the pool with two different types of rest timers to keep you pushing off the wall on the time. Time alerts help you to hold pace and distance alerts let you know when a set is over.

Cycling

For cyclists, whether on the trail or on the road, the watch is compactible with additional sensors such as speed and cadence, and the watch provides advanced training capabilities for your cycling workouts. The watch can display power metrics when paired with ANT+ power meters, including the Vector line of single and dual-sensing pedal options.

Skiing

You can even use the Fenix 3 for tracking your skiing performance. The ski-board mode puts speed, distance, vertical drop and an automatic run counter and more.

Navigation

Integrated with GPS and GLONASS capabilities the watch also provides comprehensive navigation and tracking functionalities to guide you on and off the beaten track. The ‘Bread Crumb Trail’ option keeps track of your journey as you move which also allows you to mark locations, such as a start/finish line, course checkpoint, or campsite, vehicle or other point of interest. Use Garmin’s free planning tool BaseCamp on your computer to plan and create your own courses and mark up to 1,000 locations and navigate to them.  

Barometric Altimeter and Compass

Garmin’s Fenix 3 also comes with an integrated barometric altimeter and an electronic 3-axis compass. The device auto-calibrates these sensors using its GPS receiver to provide the most accurate information possible. The altimeter provides elevation data to accurately monitor your ascent and descent. Meanwhile, the barometer can be used to predict weather changes by showing short-term trends in air pressure. The 3-axis electronic compass helps you keep your bearings whether you’re moving or not.

Rugged Design

Designed for use in the toughest conditions the watch uses premium and extremely durable materials that are up to the challenges of even the harshest terrains and weather conditions. The domed crystal lens is scratch-protected and comes with a sunlight-readable, high-resolution colour Chroma display with LED backlight which makes it easy to access your data in any light condition. The watch is rated up to 100 metres and has a battery life of up to 50 hours in UltraTrac mode therefore perfect for any of your sporting activities or outdoor adventures.

Connect IQ Apps

You can connect the watch to the Connect IQ app which allows you to fully customise and personalise the watch with additional apps, widgets, data fields, and unique watch faces.
