From intermittent showers to more prolonged bouts of rain, when you’re on the bike, the Castelli Emergency Rain Jacket ensures you always have compact wet-weather protection to hand.

Castelli have kept it simple with their Emergency Rain Jacket. They’ve chosen to make it from Deluge Light 2.5-layer waterproof fabric. This gives a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm, and in combination with a waterproof zipper and sealed seams locks out the rain. You’ll also find a longer tail to keep tyre spray off and the long sleeves with wrist closures fit easily over gloves. The only real compromise is it’s not quite as breathable as more expensive jackets in the Castelli line.

With a slight stretch in the fabric, the jacket has a snug fit that reduces the annoyance of flapping. But it’s got enough space so it’s fine to fit over a winter jacket too.  If the rain passes then it folds up into an integrated stuff pocket, making it easy to pop in a jersey pocket.
