Race-Winning Performace

Whether you’re a racer or not, the EQUIPE RS Bib Shorts S9 TARGA offer the exact same performance gains as enjoyed by the pros during their race campaigns. Building upon the previous iteration, these RS S9s are now lighter and less bulky while still retaining the renowned compressive fit, flexibility and aerodynamic performance of the previous model. 

Quick-drying materials are also used, preventing a gain of weight from sweat being soaked up – every little bit counts when riding hard. Assos’ breathable and flexible Ossidia textile is used across the lower abdomen. This reduces pressure when in a low, aggressive riding position while also expanding during deep-breathing high-intensity efforts.

Assos’ silky smooth Type.441 textile is also deployed. This offers light muscle compression to ease fatigue while also offering excellent abrasion resistance. Active cooling is ideal for hot summer rides and it’s UV protective and odour-resistant too.

Speed and Comfort Harmonised

The RS S9s are made with the Assos AEPD (Advanced Ergonomic Pattern Design) RacingFit. This is tuned to provide you with shorts that deliver stability, comfort and a smooth, streamlined race-ready fit. ASSOS shorts are legendary; this fit design is why.

The aero comfort also extends to the leg grippers. 6mm in depth and using LYCRA®, they provide a secure fit while giving a smooth and uninterrupted transition from short to skin.  

 A-Lock Engineering

The A-Lock system combines Assos’ rollBar bib straps, modified ergoBox, and one-piece Butterfly panel to give you shorts that fit beautifully no matter what. Whether it’s high-intensity bursts of speed or long endurance efforts, this engineered design maintains superb stability as you shift weight in and out of the saddle. 

Assos’ unique ‘butterfly’ panel design, snugly wraps the legs and back to create the ergoBox structure. This holds the S9 insert securely in place for an incredible feeling of support and comfort throughout your pedal stroke and when you’re shifting weight on the saddle.

S9 Sundeck Insert

Taking their already super-comfortable S9 insert, Assos have made improvements to make it lighter, cooler and minimise its footprint, all to enhance comfort still further. 

The first improvement is what Assos call the Sundeck Superlight. This is a luxuriously soft front panel that increases airflow while eliminating pressure in this most sensitive area. Then comes Assos’ whirlKrater. Again this is all about airflow, with copious perforations added throughout the insert, creating a whirlwind of cooling airflow.

What hasn’t changed is the odour-resistant top sheet for all-day freshness. You also retain the benefits of 9mm shock-absorbing foam, taking the buzz out of rougher roads. 3D Waffle inserts keep bulk low and allow more air circulation. And Thermoformed shaping reduces ridges and irritation. Lastly, there’s the goldenGate. The unique stitching pattern allows the insert to ‘float’ allowing the pad to move with you for optimal comfort.
